Detection Products

Through the integration of Ambient’s patented energy management and sensor technologies, the FireALERT-DC and FireALERT-DCS products can detect oncoming wildfires and communicate the GPS coordinates and/or property address of the fire event to the local Fire District’s Central Receiving and Dispatch Center. In addition, the FireALERT-DCS will automatically activate a compatible owner installed fire suppression system that coats a structure and its immediate perimeter with gel, foam or other fire retardant agent.

The FireALERT-DC and FireALERT-DCS products are made possible through the implementation of Ambient’s patented and proprietary technologies, which include:

Battery-free / AC free energy management technology that powers the FireALERT products 24 hours a day, seven days a week for over 20 years, requiring virtually no maintenance
A unique scanning infra-red sensor system that provides a 360° field of view
Embedded smart processing that, through the use of proprietary software algorithms, detects a wildfire signature in less than 4 minutes while minimizing false alarms
Integrated GPS coordinates provides for the inclusion of a GPS enabled emergency help call button on the FireALERT-DC product that will provide the location of lost or injured hikers and/or firefighting professionals in need of immediate assistance
Embedded communications package that enables the FireALERT products to communicate via a Spread Spectrum Radio, a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Modem or other communication modems and protocols required by the specific application
The provision of IP addressability to support web enabled command and control for the fire fighting community

FireALERT-DC
The FireALERT-DC product supports the professional firefighting community by providing an early warning system for wildfires. The FireALERT-DC can be deployed by Homeowner’s Associations, forestry companies, State and Federal forestry departments and other organizations with assets that are at high risk from wildfires.

The FireALERT-DC will detect and validate a 4’ x 4’ wildfire signature at a distance of ¼ mile, hence protecting an area of 160 acres. Larger wildfire signatures can be detected over considerably greater distances. This detection is achieved in under 4 minutes and the resulting fire alarm is communicated along with the FireALERT-DC’s GPS coordinates to the local Fire District’s Central Receiving and Dispatch Center.

Some of the most devastating wildfires in recent years have burned undetected for hours and even days, making them very difficult to control. Providing such rapid detection of a wildfire event supports early response effectiveness of firefighters. This can minimize the spread of wildfires, reducing those that burn out of control and become a significant threat to life and assets.

FireALERT - DCS
The FireALERT-DCS product provides a key component in a fully automated wildfire protection system for the homeowner in areas known as the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). These areas, where the wildland and urban environments meet, are at extreme risk from wildfires. In addition to incorporating all of the features of the FireALERT-DC, the FireALERT-DCS product will, upon detection of an approaching wildfire event, activate a a compatible, owner installed, suppression system that will apply a protective coating of foam, gel or other fire retardant agent over the home and its immediate perimeter. The FireALERT-DCS product provides a key component in a fully automated fire protection solution that will protect a home whether the homeowner is present or away, providing considerable peace of mind.

The FireALERT-DCS product supports the current policy trend for homeowners to take on more responsibility for their safety and the protection of their homes. This policy permits firefighters to focus more of their resources on fighting the spread of the wildfires.
